Animal Shelter National Day of Service
On April 14, 1869, Women’s Animal Center was established in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania as America’s First Animal Shelter. Accordingly, this date in 2019 will mark the 150th Anniversary of Animal Sheltering in the United States! To celebrate this extraordinary milestone, April 14th has been designated as “Animal Shelter National Day of Service.”
During the week of April 8th-14th, Women's Animal Center, together with our shelter and rescue partners, invites animal lovers across America to show support for the lifesaving work of their own local shelters through acts of kindness big or small!
Thank You to our shelter and rescue partners:
Are you with an Animal Shelter? Please join us in spreading the word to your local community about the Day of Service, established to support each and every shelter across the nation, and help millions of animals under our care.
