Supply Our Shelter

In addition to monetary gifts, in-kind donations of supplies are always needed for the basic operation of our shelter, and to better the lives of the animals in our community. From treats to towels to laundry detergent, Women's Animal Center has many ongoing supply needs. In-kind donations are not only tax-deductible, but also greatly appreciated.

Our animal shelter needs and gratefully accepts these items:

HIGH PRIORITY ITEMS

  • Canned Dog Food, unopened and not past expiration date
  • Small Animal Paper Bedding
  • Soft Dog Treats, unopened and not past expiration date
  • Laundry Detergent
  • Dawn Dish Detergent
  • Miracle Nipples with syringes (for kitten feeding)
  • KMR Kitten Formula
  • Pet bed heating pads (microwavable)
  • Dog pads, 23” x 26”
  • Bleach
  • Kuranda Dog Beds (no larger than 25" W by 39" L and 5" H, and preferably 23" W by 34" L and 5" H)

MEDIUM PRIORITY ITEMS

  • Towels – new and clean used
  • Soft cat treats, unopened and not past expiration date
  • Non-Clumping Clay Cat Litter
  • Small Animal Food for Rabbits and Guinea Pigs (pellets, treats, alfalfa hay and timothy hay)
  • Chewable Hay Toys for Rabbits and Guinea Pigs
  • Cat Toys
  • Leashes, 4-6 ft. nylon or leather, non-retractable

LOW PRIORITY ITEMS

  • Adaptil and Feliway Spray
  • Freedom Harnesses, all sizes
  • KONGS, XL and XXL
  • EZ Walk Harnesses, all sizes
  • Scratch Pads
  • Jolly Ball Toys
  • Havahart live animal traps for cats (for our TNR program)

Additionally, Women's Animal Center collects and re-distributes the following items to families in need in our community through area food pantries:

  • Unopened bags of dry dog and cat food  (no larger than 20 pounds and not past expiration date)
  • Cans of dog and cat food (unopened and not past expiration date)
  • Dog and cat treats (unopened and not past expiration date)

 

  • Unfortunately, we CANNOT accept nor do we have use for the following items: Bed comforters, pillows, sheets, blankets and mattresses; Used pet beds (pet beds get soiled quickly in the shelter); Opened or expired pet food, including dry kibble, cans and treats; Used pet toys, dog and human clothing, collars; Homemade dog and cat treats (we need food products with a shelf life); Opened or expired pet medication; Plastic dog dishes, watering dishes or pet water coolers (we use stainless steel only); Used Plastic litter boxes  (we use stainless steel or brand new plastic boxes only-no boxes with hoods); Toilet paper and paper towel cardboard tubes; Shredded paper (we use bedding designed for pets and designed for easy clean up).  Please do not donate nor deliver these items to the Center. In-kind donations that we do ACCEPT for the basic operation of our shelter can be dropped off at Women's Animal Center during our normal business Hours. If you have questions, please contact our front desk at 215.750.3100.
