Women's Animal Center is Honored by the State with an Historical Marker

The Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission approved a total of 18 new historical markers across the Commonwealth, each recognizing a significant person, place or event that shaped Pennsylvania's development. Included among them is Women's Animal Center, formerly the Women's Pennsylvania Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, which has been recognized for its national significance as America's First Animal Shelter.

Women's Animal Center is working with the Commission to plan the marker dedication ceremony later this fall. The marker will be installed at the site of the organization's first offices: 1320 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
