Clear the Shelters Pet Adoption Event

Women's Animal Center joins animal shelters across the nation to 'Clear the Shelters'   

When you adopt, you give a shelter pet a second chance at a loving forever home!  

• Adoption fees for the Clear the Shelters event on Sept 7th will be waived (FREE) for ALL cats, dogs and small pets thanks to the generosity of our event partner - Inspire Federal Credit Union 
• Shelter pets adopted are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and are eligible for discounted veterinary services on their first wellness visit 
• Please access the adopt a pet page on our website to help prepare you for adopting a shelter pet including what you should bring for a pet adoption (e.g. if you rent a house or apartment - documentation - such as a lease - with permission from property owner stating you are permitted to own a pet; adult/children in the household for meet and greet; and - if there is an existing dog in the household - they are required to participate in the meet and greet with shelter pet to ensure compatibility)
• We will have leashes available for purchase (while supplies last), but you are also welcome to bring your own.  We use no-pull style collars and harnesses and recommend those to all dog adopters.  If you are interested in adopting a cat, rabbit, or another small domestic animal, you are welcome to bring your own pet carrier to take your pet home.  You likewise have the option of transporting your new pet in one of our take home disposable cardboard carriers
• Adopters will receive a special adopter take home gift bag with pet items courtesy of Inspire FCU and Hill's
