25th Anniversary Rededication & Community Celebration

In June 1994, Women’s Animal Center moved from its longtime location in North Philadelphia to its present facility in Bensalem when the need for affordable veterinary care and shelter services in the area became apparent. With the organization’s move, Bucks County became home to America’s First Animal Shelter™!

June 2019 will mark the 25th Anniversary of this historic milestone in Women’s Animal Center’s 150-year timeline! To mark the occasion, Women’s Animal Center invites friends, patrons and members of the public to join them, along with Township officials, for a “25th Anniversary Rededication & Community Celebration”.

The event will include a brief ceremony and ribbon cutting in rededication of the Center’s facility, as well as an unveiling of the Annie L. Lowry Watering Trough. The trough was first commissioned by Women’s Animal Center in 1910 for the relief of work horses, and recently moved from its original location in Germantown to commemorate this special anniversary.

Complimentary refreshments, arts and crafts activities for the children, and the chance to meet the community’s shelter pets will be available. The event is free, and families of all ages are encouraged to attend! Help Women’s Animal Center celebrate by bringing a gift of unopened food, treats or toys for their shelter cats and dogs to enjoy while they await new homes!
